Oct 11 2009 I am an experienced history and geography tutor. I tutor world, United States, and Latin American history and geography. I hold a BA degree in Latin American and Caribbean History from UC Berkeley. I will warmly and ethusiastically help you to learn history or geography. I help students with papers for history classes. I tutor students preparing for standarized exams such as SAT II and AP. I also tutor teachers preparing for the credentialing exam (CSET) in social sciences. The rate for tutoring is $32 per hour. $60 for 2 hours. If you and a friend would like to study together, you can share this rate. I am open to discussing meeting throughout the area (I typically meet students in a cafe. However, I am happy to meet at another public location or at their home, a travel fee may apply.) I would be happy to answer any questions you have. My name is Joseph. I hold a full-time, adult designated subjects teaching credential from the State of California. I am willing to tutor both high school and college level students. I hold a BA in German and an MA in theology/scripture. I worked as a professional tutor for the athletic department at Southern Methodist University on a contract basis and as an ABE/GED instructor for Ya-Ka- Ama Indian Education and Development in Forestville, California. I am willing to help students write papers and do historical research. I charge about $40 to $60 an hour. I have a relatively late-model Volkswagon so I am able to come to your home or office if this convenience is needed. The best way to contact me is by email at markgarrow@hotmail.com . Mark Michael Garrow markgarrow[at]hotmail.com ----------------------------------------------- Sep 10 2009 Your child can be a lover of history. If your child is struggling, or just wants to do even better in history class, it's probably because he or she is bored to death by the endless litany of dates and battles. It is hard to know why, but most high school textbooks leave out all the good stuff, the stories and real events that make history come to life. Understanding history as it really happened can change the way your child sees the world. I have a B.A. in history from Yale, a J.D. in law from UC Berkeley, and am an award-winning, Berkeley-based columnist and features writer for the Conra Costa Times and Oakland Tribune. In addition, I have interviewed students for Yale for many years and know what colleges are seeking. http://martinsnapp.blogspot.com/ Martin Snapp catman[at]sfo.com 510-843-6220
