I'm taking reservations for the summer - spots fill up very
fast!!

I am an experienced, credentialed teacher who teaches ESL to
adults and children!

I'm happy to email you my resume and a description of my
services if you'd like. I will say up front that I charge
more than some tutors but I am a trained, credentialed
teacher and can be more helpful in less time than many. The
best compliment I have ever gotten from a parent was that
the change in her son was ''miraculous.'' That's why I do it!

I have an M.A. In TESL (and English) as well as many years of teaching
and individual language coaching in written and spoken English. Guiding
students in writing strong Statements of Purpose for college and grad
school admission is a specialty of mine as is TOEFL prep. I coach
prospective international Ph.D. students in preparing for the TSE/SPEAK
test and in oral presentation skills. Accent reduction is always addressed.

My rates are very reasonable. Different arrangements are possible.

We can work together at your place or mine (near Ashby BART).

I look forward to hearing from you.

With an M.A. in TESL (as well as one in English) to complement 25 years
of teaching at U. C. Extension and local colleges, I help high school and
college students improve in all ESL (and general English) skills. Because
of my experience, instruction is effective and efficient in written and spoken
English, test prep and crafting the college essay.

You will find my rates reasonable. And I live a convenient 2 blocks from
Ashby BART.

Call and we'll talk about creating a plan to suit your needs.

I'm a 28-year old photographer, journalist, and teacher with
a passion for working with people in the community,
particularly youth.

From 2006 to 2008, I taught English as a second language in
St. Petersburg, Russia to children and adults in group
classes and one-on-one tutoring. I worked with children as
young as three years old all the way up to adults.

I have a BA degree in Anthropology and Russian from Reed
College and I also studied Photography at the School of
Visual Arts. I am fluent in Russian and I speak some basic
Arabic, because I worked as a photographer for the American
Research Center in Egypt from 2008-2010. At present I am an
Apprentice at KPFA Radio where I produce a Friday night
cultural magazine show called Full Circle.

I am a punctual, upbeat, and well-organized person who loves
coming working with people and catching up with their lives.
I am hoping to find students work with in Oakland,
Berkeley, Albany, El Cerrito or Rockridge.

After I received my B.A. in Anthropology from U.C. Berkeley,
I traveled to Taiwan to teach ESL. I taught students from
elementary school age to middle school age. In my free time
I tutored adults in conversational English privately. I
taught in Taiwan for 2 years. When I moved back to
California, I taught for a software corporation, helping
their engineers from China improve upon their English so
they could integrate well in the company culture. I am
available in the Wed.,Fri, Sat., and Sun. evenings. On the
weekend I can also teach in the morning from 10am-12pm. I
tutor all age groups and take into account your learning
needs. We can focus on whatever area of English you prefer.
I have material, but I also buy other books according to
your level. I look forward to hearing from you.

My name is Dorit Perry and I recently completed my third year teaching
9th and 11th grade English at Berkeley High.

I had many EL students in my BHS classes, and observed how they
sometimes struggled with low self-confidence in English. I am a child
of immigrants and have also lived abroad, qualities which make me
empathic to the EL experience. As a trilingual person, I am aware of
differences in language structure and pronunciation. I can provide the
support in English Language Arts that helps EL students succeed.

I work with pre-teens, teens, college students, and adults. Resume,
pricing sheet, and testimonials available upon request.

About me: I graduated from UCLA with a 4.00 GPA, earned an MA from the
California Institute of Integral Studies, and hold a CA teaching
credential. Over the past 15 years, I worked as an academic and life
coach for over 1,000 college students, tutored at Score Educational
Centers, and pursued acting in LA.
