''Terror seized me. It was the first day of first grade. With
my magenta Barbie backpack (purchased at a cool French
store) and my jean hat with flowers, I felt prepared for
anything...'' -- Emily 2007
Dialogue. Characterization. Zippy writing. A strong voice.
Each college essay provides an opportunity to craft a piece
of writing that tells a story, creates an image, draws the
reader in.
It is a process that unfolds through numerous conversations,
deep thought, and countless drafts.
Moving through this process with high school students
is my passion.
20 years of experience coaching students on their
college (and graduate school) applications.

in order to ensure a smooth application process.
Additionally, I tutor in SAT preparedness, and guide in
college selection, application development, and university
selection.
Weekly or biweekly tutoring only. I'm available weekends,
and weekday evenings on or around UC Berkeley main campus.

Need help with college essays or interviews? I can help!
I am an Admissions Consultant who has helped numerous Bay
Area students get into the school of their dreams. My
recent clients are now attending Harvard, MIT, Columbia, and
Cornell, to name a few. I work closely with students to
develop the best possible essays and to interview with
confidence. Most importantly, I love doing what I do.
At Harvard, I was the Asian-American Coordinator of the
Undergraduate Minority Recruitment Program for
undergraduates, which included recruiting in person at Bay
Area high schools. I have also been and continue to be an
active alumni interviewer for Harvard for the past 8 years.
My rates are reasonable and I am happy to provide
references. I can be contacted at: hchang@post.harvard.edu.

Dear Parents: I can offer your child the highest quality
professional tutoring in writing the college essay. I have
been working with E.Bay students for the last 6 years,
helping them compose original, distinctive college essays.
I have had a career as both a college English professor and
high school English teacher; I know very well what type of
essays enhance an application and raise a student's
profile. I have my PhD in English and my M.A.T. in English
Education (Cal certified) and have published extensively.
I help students ''mine'' their academic and extra-
curricular activities for the information college admission
committes value. I guide my kids through the writing
process, helping them select appropriate examples and
offering stylistic suggestions as they revise. What emerges
after several weeks of work are lively, appealing, and
revealing personal essays. Many references available on
request.
