Day Camps in Central Contra Costa
Jan 2006
I am looking for recommendations on summer camp programs for a 6
year old girl in or around Walnut Creek. Would love a
traditional camp (outdoors, hiking, songs, arts and crafts). I
would be interested in hearing from others abou t the city run
camp and also the camp at Walnut Acres Day Care. My daughter
attends W. Acres day care after school and loves it. But, I
would like summertime to be different than the rest of the year
so I am not sure about sending her during the summer too. In
addition to this broad request, I would also be interested in
feedback on the Willows Theatre camp, Contra Costa Civic Theatre
camp (which is only for 7 and up) and Monkey Business Camp.

Our daughter has gone to Camp Shelanu at the Contra Costa Jewish
Community Center
in Walnut Creek for the last two summers (started when she was 5). The
camp is non-
denominational. Our daughter loves it! It also has a before/aftercare
program, which
for us working parents is very important. You can check it out further
by going to
http://www.ccjcc.org.
Have you contacted the Central County office of the Contra Costa
Child Care Council? We have a data base of child program and
collect information on summer programs. The phone number is:
925-676-5437. Good luck!
