I can recommend Leo at Foreign Auto Clinic in El Cerrito. He is honest and reasonable and always willing to explain in detail what is wrong with your car even going so far as to show you the old bad parts and where they are broken. He doesn't try to sell you things you don't need. I have referred many friends and family and many make the trek from SF to use him. He is located on Stockton Ave at San Pablo Ave.
