Re: Alameda preschools
We love Kinder Huis, a family daycare in Central Alameda owned by Anita
Stevens (look
up her phone number under her name - not Kinder Huis - in the phone
book, or go to
http://www.kinderhuis.com/index.html). It's a loving, play-based
program for 2- to
5-year-olds with a simple curriculum and weekly outings, and we've been
very happy
there. I believe she takes full-timers.
Happy parent
Our son Aaron has been at Kinder Huis in Alameda for over a year now, and
we think it's terrific. It's a family-based daycare run by Anita Stevens (14
children max, with 10 on an average day), in a beautiful old Victorian house
in the Gold Coast area of Alameda. Anita stresses play-based activities, with a
rich (but not excessive) preschool curriculum. The atmosphere is warm and
cozy, and the teachers are fantastic (her teachers typically stay for years).
They provide a warm home-cooked meal every day, a nice long nap (1-3
p.m.) and a different enrichment class each day of the week, two of which are
field trips in the Kinder Huis van (with 12 carseats in it!) to local destinations.
The classes include dance (away), Spanish, music, cooking, and the weekly
library trip (away)
