While searching for daycare, I scoured the archives for recommendations, but found none for the fantastic place we ended up choosing, so I wanted to post in case any of you found yourselves in similar shoes...While at first I was concerned about an absence of recommendations, I'm now convinced that is only because they are truly a BEST KEPT SECRET.

Jill's House has an opening for a 10 month old (or older) in their small family daycare. We couldn't be happier with the care our son receives there. I stayed home with him for his first year and was so nervous about leaving him in another's care - and honestly, from the moment we found Jill's House, I haven't fretted once. He eats well, naps well, sings, laughs, and plays - arrives happy and comes home happy. He is truly thriving in their care. We looked at several other options and none even came close in comparison. While the cost may be comparable to that of a nanny share, I feel that what they provide is actually far superior - I love that he is able to get the social interaction of being with kids his age while still getting the close, personal love and attention that such a small daycare can provide. Jil's House in Oakland has one opening. They take children three and under and I cannot tell you how happy we have been with their care. Our daughter started at Jil's at one year old and has enjoyed every minute of it. They feed her a healthful and organic breakfast, lunch and snack and give them all the love you would hope your child would get when you are not with them. They are very good about schedules--even if you aren't yet--and very attentive and mindful about the changing needs of your family. Every day we get a little slip of paper that tells us what our daughter ate, how long she napped, and anything else of note, like ''big poop!'' We love Jil's house in every way! Contact: Jil, 289-7364
