For a great preschool in the El Sobrante/Pinole/Hercules/San Pablo/Richmond area, we really like Hansel and Gretel. It's a parent co-op, so you have to participate (but the more parents, the less work) and everyone is really friendly and genuine. The other children are great too. The director, Phaedra Burnett is incredibly talented with the kids and works alot on peaceful conflict resolution. Very therapeutic setting for the children. Lots of playtime and creative learning through art, music, stories and a circle-time lesson. Phaedra is really engaged with the students and also full of great parenting resources. Really nice atmosphere and I feel completely comfortable taking my 3 year-old daughter there. Safe environment where I know she will be encouraged to behave well and will be treated with respect and interest. Homey environment. Highly recommended!!! I think you can also do a drop-off option (no participation) at a higher rate. Lisa
Re: Preschool Recommendations in the El Sobrante area?
Check out Hansel & Gretel Parent Participation Preschool in El
Sobrante. Our son, aged 4, is in his second year there and we
love it. The program is from 8:30-11:15AM Monday - Friday. It
is a co-op, so parents work one day per week at the school. It
is a great way to learn more about early childhood development,
and get to know other parents and your child's schoolmates. For
more info visit http://www.hanselandgretelcoop.com or give us a
call at 510-223-7400. You can also e-mail me with any questions.

Re: Pre School in the West Contra Costa Area
Try Hansel & Gretel Parent Nursery School in El Sobrante. We're
right off Appian Way. It's a co-op, so you're required to work
one day per week and attend a 2-hour meeting once per week. Great
play-based school with a terrific director. I have a child there
and am on the board. Their number is 510-223-7400. Feel free to
contact me for more info

Does anyone have any feedback about Hansel & Gretel preschool in El Sobrante? We visited there & loved the facility & the atmoshere in general, but I had some safety concerns. I am wondering if any parents out there have first hand experiences to share, & if you've ever had safety concerns come up with your children at hansel & gretel, i.e. have you felt your child was/is safe there & in good hands? many thanks anon
