I hear you on those points - I have three kids and have been to lots of different schools and have my 4 year old in a great place I just found that is inexpensive (about 200 a month a little more or less depending on how many days they are open each month). The days are m-w-f, from 9- 1. It is in a Chinese Lutheran Church on Carlson in Richmond - we live in Albany and it is exactly 2 miles from our house. Near the plaza kind of. Anyway, the people there are so, so sweet, mellow and yes, Christian which we are not but neither are lots of families there. There is bible time on Friday where they read innocent stories about jesus (this kind of freaked me out but you know he'll be well versed in the bible maybe - and that is part of any good academic education in college so he is ahead of himself - actually he seems totally unaware of it all).
