Beth Sholom preschool has been a wonderful facility for my children. My older daughter just graduated from the preschool after attending for 3 years. I now currently have my younger daughter there in the two's class. The preschool did a wonderful job providing my daughter the confidence and guidance as well as the kindergarten readiness needed for success. My kids have been exposed to a variety of things from gymnastics, music classes, science, math and letter recognition. My kids have made so far life long friends thanks to the nurturing atmosphere the teachers and director fosters. They always make sure the kids are stimulated properly. The preschool is year round so its wonderful for the summers to not have to look for camps. I can't say enough good things about Beth Sholom Preschool. Feel free to contact me if you have further questions. Jaime
I have been associated with Beth Sholom preschool for a total of 6 years. My 8 yr old daughter started there at age 3 and my 4 yr old daughter has been there since age 2. She will graduate from the preschool program in June. Through the years Beth Sholom faculty has consistently provided my girls with a safe, nurturing, loving environment. The staff are committed and very loyal. There is no turn over. Mrs. Edna, the director, incorporates music, cooking, movement, story time, writing, mathematic principles and science into the overall curriculum. There is plenty of creative play as well as outside play, in their beautiful, well-maintained yard. The snacks are provided 2x per day and are healthy. Throughout the year there are opportunities for the families to attend: Insect Night, Movie Night, Book Fairs, Picnics and Parent Educational events.
The best part of course, for me as a parent, has been watching my girls grow and develop, with the love, commitment and dedication of Beth Sholom's staff. Beth Sholom Preschool and its staff have been a true blessing. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions. Krista
Re: San Leandro Schools
I'm writing to tell you of a great preschool very near Roosevelt. Beth Sholom on Dolores Ave. Our son went there from age 2.75 to 5. It's affiliated with the temple, but accepts lots of non-Jewish kids (we are not Jewish). The director Edna is great and truly likes kids. It's mostly play based; they do a little stuff with numbers and alphabet, they learn about Jewish traditions and participate in Jewish holidays. It's quite inexpensive compared to most other preschools around. Not a lot of bells and whistles, field trips, new toys or anything, but safe and caring. They take kids still in diapers. They have a lot of different options for days/week and hours/day. We had a great experience and felt very confident having our son there. loved Beth Sholom
Re: Structured preschool in Oakland or San Leandro
Temple Beth Sholom is a great preschool in San Leandro which I highly recommend. My daughter just spent 3 years there and I am waiting for my son to turn 2 so that I can start him there as well (the children don't have to be potty trained). It's located in north San Leandro! right off of 580 at Grand Ave. The hours are from 7:30am-6pm. The director is a lovely, warm person and cares about all of the kids. There are planned activities but also a lot of time to play outside in a large outdoor space. They also have children of all religions and races. Plus, the cost is low compared to other preschools. If you would like more info, you are welcome to email me. Debra
Re: Preschools that give scholarships
Temple Beth Sholom PreSchool in San Leandro is great preschool that my son has been going to for a year. While they are open to all children, they have a scholarship program for Jewish kids that was endowed by a donor. Call Edna at 510/357-7920. Helena
Re: San Leandro preschool with flexible hours
My son is 2.5 and has been at Temple Beth Sholom Preschool since the day he turned two. I highly recommend the school. My son loved it from day one and he runs into the classroom when we drop him off. They are VERY flexible with hours and even let me bring him in a extra day here and there if I need to for $5 an hour. Their staff turn over is very low and the teachers are really sweet. Kids don't have to be potty trained and they will help with the training when the time is right. They offer many parent events like Science Night, Children's Literacy workshop, Discipline Skills workshop, etc. Helena
