Anyone have any recent reviews about this place? Searching for Affordable Spanish Daycare

My daughter spent over 3 years with Neri and Jorge, between the ages of 1 1/2 and 4 1/2 and she has gone back on ''visits'' as well. She was well cared-for and loved by them and she learned a great deal. I'll always be grateful to the Alarcón family. They make a nutritious and tasty hot lunch for the kids every day and will give your child breakfast too if you need that. Neri is reserved and discreet and she doesn't brag about her qualifications or all they offer at their daycare. Neri is the main teacher and she really is a gifted educator of young children. They sing and have circle time every morning and I have never seen the TV on there, although Neri and my daughter informed me that there were educational videos on occasional rainy afternoons. They did little art projects nearly every day and got to play outside in the very safe backyard. The children learn loads of Spanish with Neri and she and Jorge speak to them in Spanish exclusively except in cases in which a frightened or confused child really needs reassurance or instructions in English. Neri will answer all your questions at pick-up up in English or in Spanish, if you speak it and she'll let you know of any concerns. She respects the privacy of each family so you'll have to introduce yourself to get to know other parents and kids at pick-up and drop-off. Jorge, Neri's husband and the father of their school-age daughter is watchful and loving with the children. Before starting my daughter at Neri and Jorge's, I was hesitant to have her at a daycare with a man present. As I got to know the Alarcons, I realized I had made the right choice. My daughter loves and trusts Neri and Jorge a great deal and still runs up and hugs them when we see them at birthday parties. Carol (Martina's mommy)

Fabulous bilingual day care w/openings (Fruitvale, Oakland)

Hi everyone, I'm getting the word out that my fabulous day care has a few rare openings right now.

(I learned about this daycare years ago through BPN and I am SO grateful. This message is a return gift for a new family)

My kids have been attending this small family day care in the Fruitvale District in Oakland since they were infants (5 years for my oldest). The husband and wife are both from Ecuador and are like a second family to my kids. The family speaks both Spanish and English but I asked them to speak only Spanish to my kids and consequently all of my kids are bilingual.

My kids are well cared for, loved, nurtured, taught, fed home-cooked nutritious meals (included!) and are very, very happy there. I am very grateful to have them in my children's lives!

Their rates are super reasonable, especially considering that breakfast, lunch and snacks are included. Her hours are from 7:30am to 6pm and her small, impeccable and well-appointed home is just off Fruitvale Ave, in Oakland near 880. She is two blocks from the Fruitvale/Alameda bridge and in the other direction, a few blocks to the Fruitvale BART station.

Her name is Neri Alarcon and her phone number is 510-434-1942.
