Primary Care for my (stubborn) husband

I am looking for a doctor in the Oakland/Berkeley area for my husband who is 45 years old. He will not look into this for himself, has very little experience dealing with the healthcare industry and distrusts doctors as a rule. I don't want to stereotype, but I am looking for a doctor other (stubborn) men like. Despite my pleas, my husband has not had a physical in ten years. His mother just had a major heart attack, and has also been diagnosed with diabetes; I have since learned that diabetes runs in his family. This is now prompting him to finally see a doctor to get checked out. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. He has Healthnet HMO Elect Open Access/Alta Bates Medical Group. Thanks! Tina
