Re: MetLife Dental in-network dentists???
I have MetLife Dental (after years of Delta, which certainly was
simpler), and my dentist Leslie Hata (Rockridge), who I think is
great, is in their network.

Hi! Does anyone see Dr. Hata in Oakland? He is
covered by our insurance.
I would love to find
some more information on this dentist. Thanx in advance.
Nancy
Dr. Hata (the younger) is super! He works in the same office as
his dad. I don't know anything about Hata the elder. I've been
going to him for about 6-7 years and now my husband and 3 year
old do also. He's very high tech which we enjoy, friendly,
tells you exactly what's going on and generally runs on time.

My entire family has gone to Dr. Leslie Hata for dental care for years. He
is kind, attentive, careful, thorough, and technologically up-to-date. Dr.
Hata has been very responsive to me, to my brother and brother's family,
and to my parents (now deceased). He has been particularly kind and gentle
with my daughter and my niece from the time they were toddlers, and they
are now 17 years old. The drawback of his practice is the wait for a
routine appointment, though we have always been able to see him on short
notice with urgent problems.

A friend steered us to Les Hata, Jr., and I'm grateful to this
day. He knows his stuff technically, and is compassionate and
sensitive. He has kept my teeth in excellent condition despite a
health problem that jeopardizes them, and has educated me and
motivated me to protect them. I've even flown in from out of
state to see him, because I've never found a dentist I've liked
even half as well. Count yourself as fortunate that your
insurance entitles you to see him!

Dr. Hata is great. Dr. Hata was recommended to me by a
professional acquaintance whose wife is a dentist in the city.
Unlike other dentists I've had, Dr. Hata manages to teach me
something new about dental health during almost every visit.
He's thoughtful and friendly. Very up to date on the latest
techniques and science of his profession, which I think shows
genuine dedication to his job. He personally cleans your teeth--
no hygienist. This gives the patient extra consultation time
with him--a rarity in this managed care age. He also donates
his time to various community organizations. I highly
recommend him.

Re: Dentists Favorable to Breastfeeding
Les Hata, Jr., whose office is on College Ave., is a
state-of-the-art, thinking dentist who treats his patients, and
their preferences with deep respect. He's kind and skilled.
If your fears of tooth decay are confirmed, before you let anyone
blame breastfeeding, be sure you check that your child has not
been exposed to lead. Lead exposure is highly correlated with
tooth decay, but that is a newish discovery, and many are still
unaware of it.
