From: Fran (Nov 1998)

My husband has seen Dr. DeBerry for several years now and our 5-year-old son has been going to him for a couple fo years. I went to him this past summer to have several fillings drilled out and refilled (3 days in a row, 1.5 hours/appt) when my own dentist couldn't get me into his schedule for several months. We've all been very happy with him. His office is very funky but he seems to keep up-to-date with dental techologies. (For instance, he is one of the few dentists around who uses ultrasound to clean teeth.) I found him to be very gentle and personable when he had to do all that work on my teeth.

I didn't think he was as careful about guarding against mercury contamination as my regular dentist was when my fillings were being drilled out, but when I voiced my concern, his office manager gave me a recipe for cilantro pesto, which chelates mercury and other heavy metals from your body (according to the health foods article it appeared in).

I have to explain his scheduling: a few times a year, he and his partner take long trips or cruises (they belong to some exclusive club of people who have visited more than 100 countries) and a colleague takes over his patients for emergencies during these times. So when he is in town, he's available for appointments at all sorts of hours, including lunch, early evening, and Saturdays.
