My family is considering adopting a Basset Hound. We would prefer
to adopt a mature dog. Are there any recommendations for Basset
Rescues in this area? Thanks,
Laurel

I just did a quick Google search and found several in CA by
putting in ''bassett hound rescue california''. You should check
out the websites--they have really cute pics of all the
available dogs! The No. Cal. # is 707-765-2690 (Gloria Carlson).
It is also worth checking the SF SPCA and other shelters in case
one has been put up for adoption. Also check with A.R.F. and
other rescue organizations.
Good luck--you are doing a great thing by rescuing rather than
buying!
