For years my wife and I and some of our friends have been regulars at Heads in Albany (1490 Solano Ave., 510-525-4478). For my usual cut I just show up and take the next available chair. My wife -- who is more discriminating than I am -- prefers to make an appointment with Christie (the owner) or Rosie, both of whom have consistently given her very good results at a fair price. A basic cut is $13, slightly more for extra styling, shampoos, etc. Morris

Christie, who works at Heads (across from Supercuts in Albany) charges $11 and does an exceptionally good job cutting my hair. She really could go high-end, and I appreciate getting a great cut so cheaply. The address is 1490 Solano, the phone is 525-4478. All the haircutters there seem to be good, so walk-in in fine; but if you want Christie, you have to make an appointment. Louise
